Florida mortality schedules: uncover your ancestors' stories

Florida mortality schedules are a rich resource for genealogists and family historians seeking information about their ancestors who lived and died in Florida before the widespread implementation of state-level vital records.

What are Florida mortality schedules?

These schedules are lists of individuals who died in the 12 months preceding the federal censuses of 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. They were collected alongside the regular population schedules but were kept separate. In Florida, mortality schedules were also collected during the 1885 state census.
